A Happier Hog is a Tastier Hog!!

Pigs were first introduced in the 1500's to America by Spanish Explorer, Hernando DeSoto. It was not long before pigs played a vital role in the everyday lives of early settlers to America.

Without hesitation our hogs are the best of the best when it comes to tasty pork. Not all pork is created equally. Our quality will have you coming back for more!! Our focus at Hartland Hill Farm will continue to be on the Heritage Breeds, in particular the Berkshire Pig.

Why the Heritage Breed?

Simple put Heritage pork is more flavorful. The commercial counterpart has a leaner carcass, pink meat and not so much lard. However, darker heritage pork has a more full, complex flavor; it is well-marbled with fat, meaning it is more juicy and tender. Like all grass-fed meat, heritage pork is also healthier for you. It is higher in good fatty acids, beta carotene, and vitamins D and E.
